The protection and management of forests, both new and native is so important for the planet, environment, and the industry. Blue Lagoon Timbers recognise as a company we have a responsibility to the environment, customers, suppliers and staff to base its commercial activities on well-managed and sustainable forests.
We are proud to be now distributing sustainably sourced native timber from the forests of far north Queensland. The Branch 95 project not only manages a vast area of native timber, but it also creates jobs for the indigenous people of this ancient woodland. Sustainably creating regrowth in the undergrowth by selective thinning of older trees helps the forest floor plants and animals thrive, whilst increasing CO2 and Carbon capture uptake into younger trees. So it’s a win win win project for the environment, carbon capture, local indigenous people, and the timber industry.
Blue Lagoon Timbers is committed to purchasing all timber from legal sources and seeks evidence of compliance from suppliers that they are operating in accordance with the laws of their country. We unreservedly condemn illegal logging practices and keep informed of processes and changes in international legislation.
Blue Lagoon Timbers sells Softwood, Hardwood, Sheet Materials and Engineered Timber Products into the Australian merchanting, joinery and construction markets, we assess suppliers for evidence of sustainable forest management.
We recognise that the independent certification of the forests and the process chain is the best means of providing assurance that timber comes from legal and well-managed forests and will purchase certified material wherever possible. If it is established that we have received materials from illegal sources, we will promptly take the appropriate action(s), including ceasing purchasing from such sources.
